In the beginner level we had learned about Tempo Markings that tell a player how fast or slow to play. But the problem with tempo markings is that they only do so Qualitatively. So, composers in order to give a quantitative value to the speed of their music use Metronome Markings.
These Markings tell the player exactly how many beats per minutes is to be played ( can be classified into quaver crotchet or minim).
this notation means there are 80 crotchet beats per minute.
this notation means there are 80 minim beats per minute.
Now, if you're asked what is faster and what is slower. Instinctively, you might say that the 80 crotchet bpm is faster. But if you think about it intuitively you'll realise they're both really the same speed, because at the end of the day both are simply 80 beats per minute. If we're talking simply about the speed that the notation signifies, the type of notes doesn't matter, we simply need to check the numerical value.
and now I am bored ...
PEACE ! 🎼 👈 that’s a treble clef btw :)
